 2018 Preview 


       West Point completed the 2017 season with a 6-5 record. With their 4-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 5A region six, the Warriors earned a spot in the playoffs in 2017. West Point's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Brooks by a score of 41-30.

       The Warriors last playoff victory came during the 1994 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win.

       Since 2010, West Point has gone a combined 39-45. Their 46.0% winning percentage ranks 33rd in Class 5A over the past eight seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, West Point has managed to compile a record of 120-135. Their 47.0% winning percentage ranks 34th in Class 5A and 227th in the AHSAA.




       The Warriors are led by head coach Don Farley who is entering his sixth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 29-25 over the past five seasons at West Point. Under his direction the Warriors have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Farley.

       Coach Farley's overall record as a head football coach in five season stands at 29-25 (53.7%).

       The West Point Warriors will play in Class 5A region seven during the 2018 season. Following realignment, the Warriors remain in 5A but move from region six over to region seven.

       The Warriors should be in contention for a playoff spot in region seven this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game.

       The Warriors open the 2018 season at home against non-region opponent Fairview on Thursday, August 23 at Warrior Field. Last year the Fairview Aggies finished with an overall record of 2-7 and in seventh place in Class 5A region six. The Aggies closed out the regular season with a loss to Holly Pond by a score of 18-6.

       West Point and Fairview have met a total of 53 times on the football field. The Warriors have a 32-20-1 record against the Aggies. They last met in 2017 with West Point winning by a score of 27-14.

       West Point returns 5A All-State  running back Hunter Persall. He was named to the first team last season.

The Tuscaloosa Black Bears were considered one of the best programs in the nation from 1925-1931. Their record over that span was an amazing 61-0-3.
